Large black spider
Apologies to arachnophobes for two spider pictures in a row.
Spent some more time out in the garden clearing another bed close to the new pond. Dug up lots of ground elder and virginia creeper. Had to replant all the bluebell bulbs and daffodils when I'd finished. Found lots of old bits of branch and wood to create a woodpile close to the pond. We're hoping that the rockery stones and woodpile will create a lot of places for insects and amphibians to shelter and possibly overwinter.
This large black spider was on one of the bits of wood that we had to saw into 4 to create the base of our woodpile.
