Klotten to Cochem

A 12 Km walk followed by time in Cochem to visit the castle, soak in the atmosphere, use the chairlift then return to Treis- Karden by boat.
Corn dollies roughly are a form of straw work from pagan tradition  whereby the last sheaf of grain from the harvest is formed into a female dolly that is left in the field until the first ploughing the next year buries it once again in the ground.   You can't really call these two figures "corn dollies" as they are so big but I think they have been made from the latest harvest in the village and are fun and decorative.  Perhaps a kind of haste ye back greeting to visitors as they leave the village.
J and I didn't do the castle visit today as my sciatica was playing up when I stood about so we had a long "people watching" lunch, then a walk along the promenade in Cochem in the sunshine before returning via a beautiful sail on the Mosel to Karden.
The extra blip shows how the vines are trimmed on such a steep slope and a well earned rest on the walk.
