A grand day out.
No, not a trip to the moon in a home built rocket, but a top-down drive around Derbyshire with a load of other BMW Zed owners.
We were expecting a dreadful days weather from the forecast we'd been following from early last week, but, in the last twenty four hours the forecast improved dramatically for a great chunk of the day. And so it turned out - A nice drive around a few locations west and south of Chesterfield in glorious sunshine.
This is as we set off early this morning - This is Julia, wife of today's organiser, Grumpy. Nothing could be further from the truth, Grumpy, aka Dave is a smiling and laid back guy. Julia has much to smile about after nursing Dave over a serious illness just a few short weeks ago.
It might sound a boring day out driving in a group, but, much of the fun is at the various refreshment and food stops with both car and non-car conversations. This is a fabulously friendly group.
The weather got very cloudy and close as we ate lunch which finished nearer tea time than lunchtime. We cried off then as did a number of others - it rained all the way home down the M1. A few of the hardier souls did make it to the final planned location however.
Back home now - More cheese Gromit?
