The Great British Summer

Every Sunday afternoon during the summer months, bands and musical events grace Abington Park Northampton's lovely old bandstand. On a good Sunday, several hundred people picnic on the grass, enjoy ice creams and relax in the gentle summer air.

At least, that's the plan! On such a day as this, only these few brave souls ensured the Milton Keynes Band were not left playing to the squirrels and sparrows.

Just before taking this I did in fact eat a lime ice cream while trying to keep an umbrella over my head in the squally rain. You've got to be tough to enjoy the Great British Summer!
