Hagrid

We have a number of Reeves Muntjac who visit our garden, however we have only given two of them names.  Hoppy is the name we have given one because he/she has lost one forefoot, it has to hop, it has been visiting us for many months and the leg is now fully healed.  Hagrid is the name of a very small intrepid male Muntjac, unlike the others, who if they see you moving about in the house run away, Hagrid will look at you moving about in the house and when you wave at him he seems to nod his head, before going back to eating.  He is obviously fully aware that we are there and although he will not yet let us approach him closely, he does not run away if we do walk out into the garden.  He frequently walks within a metre or two of the windows and doors and I believe if he were tall enough he would look into the windows. A few minutes before this picture was taken he was a couple of metres from the house and appeared to be rubbing noses with our cat Florence who was standing on our rockery, bringing her head up to his level.

Today’s blip is of Hagrid eating an apple under our Discovery apple tree.
