Turks Cap Lily

At the back of the hot border. It's interesting how orange and yellow flowers come into their own now, whilst the pink border peaked a couple of weeks ago. Rudbeckias are just opening and the verbascum are powering up to join Achillea and Crocosmia Lucifer - both still flowering magnificently.
I finished harvesting the blackcurrants today. They have been prolific this year and we've enjoyed a compote with yoghurt, blackcurrant crumble and a very 'pink' Victoria sandwich with blackcurrant compote and pink buttercream filling. I'm put off making jam with them because of the hideous amounts of sugar in the recipes so it's probably more crumble for the freezer. The intense, sunshiney flavour will be really appreciated in those dark winter days to come.
