Jesse Jackson
This evening we went to a series of events involving the visit by Jesse Jackson to the Edinburgh Book Festival. After a mingling reception, we were lucky to get tickets to go to the event itself. He's a pretty inspiring person - certainly a performer and a politician. Every time he talked about gun laws, the Tattoo fireworks went off. A bit disconcerting. Finally, we attended the Honorary Graduation - which was a slightly bizarre event in a tent, with the rain hammering down outside.
Of course, it had to rain. It always does when we go to the Book Festival.
Getting home was a bit of a mess. No taxis to be had, and the walk to the bus stop on Princes Street was long enough to get very wet. Then we got even wetter being sprayed by buses piling along the road. Unfortunately, there were also drunks on the bus, and one of them had a bit of an accident coming down the stairs to get off. All in a day's work for the bus driver, though.
Finally home, enjoying a cup of peppermint tea and drying off.
