This bloke's got a hole in his head!

There's a free exhibition of portrait sculptures at the Scottish National Portrait gallery, called Head To Head. The works from ancient to modern pieces, including this amazing 2013 piece by Jonathan Owen. I've uploaded an extra photo so you can see it whole.

He created it by carving directly into a 19th Century marble bust, transforming the sculpture into a new object without an individual identity. The head is now a 3-D star cage, with a moveable marble sphere trapped inside it!

In other news: it was a day off marking - much needed after 14 days in succession.
