Fire

Large clouds of smoke rise over the Castle Grounds as another wildfire rages through the southern parts of the parkland. Emergency services, including firebrigade and coastguard, would take several hours to bring the blaze under control, which was fanned by strong northeasterly winds. The fire forced the closure of the A859 road from Stornoway to Tarbert, causing traffic chaos in the evening rush hour.
