derelict
If you've been popping in here regularly you will have picked up that I am increasingly drawn to these places.
Yesterday I took delivery of a fine book 'Beauty in Decay' - fabulous photos of abandoned, derelict and decaying buildings and some on a very grand scale - well worth a look if you are interested in this subject matter. There is a fair amount of tone mapping and HDR involved which isn't really my bag, I prefer low natural light from just one or two sources if possible.
Turns out this 'movement' has a name URBEX (Urban Explorer) - I guess I'm technically more RUREX - Rural Explorer. What is nice having read the book though is that there is an intuitive understanding of how to behave - no 'set-up' shots, shoot what you find how you find it and take nothing away but your photographs.
