The joy of a new school

Today I photographed the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of a new bilingual charter school in D.C., complete with a new "outdoors learning" area.

The classrooms are beautiful, the teachers excited, and the kids and parents got a chance to explore the facilities before school starts on Monday. 

Then everyone convened on the play areas for some cotton candy, bbq food, clowns and all around good fun. The energy was palpable and the feel-good quotient very high :)
