Old Coal Mine

Day of peace and quiet. The promised good weather arrived along with busier vibe as folks from the cities arrive at Deep Creek Lake for a long weekend. We sat out in the state park this morning and I took a stroll up to an abandoned coal mine which was operated by two enterprising locals in the 1920s. The mine only operated for 3 years and both men died shortly afterwards from the effects of coal dust.

P and I took out the 2 man kayak in late afternoon which wasn't a great success. Very wet and glad to get back into the singles.
