The Pride of Sussex

Just back from a rather hot 8 mile walk with the spaniel on the South Downs between Firle and Bishopstone.  There were lots of round-headed rampion (Phyteuma orbiculare) to be seen on the north-facing slopes. Its known as the Pride of Sussex - because it is more common here than anywhere else. Not a surprise then that its the county flower.

I've recently acquired a hand-held GPS which tells me how far we walk, speed, altitude etc. I was amazed to find that I'm  averaging more than 50 miles a week at 3.4 miles an hour.
