A Buchan landscape
The NE corner of Scotland, known as Buchan, is a rich agricultural landscape. This scene, just outside Newburgh on Ythan, is typical of the area; barley, grass, sheep, cows and a mixed flock of rooks, jackdaws and crows.
When a friend of mine, who has spent his whole life working on hyaenas, lions and wild dogs in the game parks of South Africa, visited us, he opined that a flock of rooks was just about the most impressive thing he had ever seen! We take too much for granted I fear.
Today I am off to the Lonach gathering and Highland Games and so will be out of touch for a day or so.
