Les Paulilles

This is near the beach in an area which was once Nobel's dynamite factory.  An amazing place which only closed in the 1980's.  This provides some shade in the heat of the day and gets the sand out from between your toes!

Between Banyuls sur Mer and Porte Vendres it is now a nature reserve with some of the buildings still maintained and a thriving factory which restores the traditional catalan fishing boats - "sardinals" - which were originally designed to fish sardines and anchovies.
