Dreva and Trahenna Hill
A Summer Spokes Ride on Sunday saw us cycle down to Broughton in the Borders. After last week's warm weather, it was a lot cooler. The wind was also more noticeable than forecast. The sun made an appearance now and again. We took the moor road across to West Linton from Penicuik, then head south through Blyth Bridge.
Just as we stopped in Broughton, the clouds cleared long enough for us to have lunch.
After lunch, we travelled a little further south to take the B road north through Stobo. Just after crossing the Tweed, I stopped to take this picture of Dreva Hill, in the foreground, and Trahenna Hill behind.
Carrying on north, we went through Stobo, on to the Meldons Road to Eddleston. Here we had a quick stop for coffee and cake. There was a short ride along a busy A703, before turning off on the Fala Toll Road and back in to Midlothian near the Gladhouse Reservoir.
The ride home was via Mount Lothian and the long descent to Auchendinny. The ride in to Edinburgh was a bit more busy than expected, but the road from Howgate to Dalkeith was closed. To avoid traffic, we head through Bush to the Seafield Moor Rd, and Fairmilehead.
Post ride refreshment was taken at the Charwood, very welcome after a 100km bike ride.
