Walton On The Naze Carnival

This is the back end of our float at the end of the day.
Saturday 15th August very busy day for all of us
we have put heart and soul into this Carnival 
some have said it was the best one for years,
Start the day off at 4.30 am to block off the town's roads with Cones.
set up the town square, Tesco lent us an open lorry so we had a stage.
Face painting,stalls selling all sorts of things.
put out the hay bales for seating.
Procession starts at 2pm from then on the roads in and out of the town are closed. our theme   this year was Pirates .so there were a lot of boats involved. The RNLI made a radio Caroline ship.
Coastal skips had a boat made out of a Skip . all very good. a great display.
although as my daughter and myself were closing the roads on our way down in front of the Procession you don't get to see much.
Dancers ,Twirlers. BellyDancers.
one of the retirement homes .joined in with several residents all dressed in stripey T shirts and eye patches. wheelchairs donning Pirate flags. they all had a great time and the care persons pushing them in the procession. we had two Fire Engines. the children always love those .
it was the largest amount of floats for years.
In the evening we had Pub Idol which all there enjoyed very much plus the drinks Marquee.
full day planned for tomorrow as well,
Don't hay bales make a mess !!! but very comfy.
