Surprise
Yesterday Paula and I had a lovely surprise, My granddaughter Kirsty sent us this lovely bunch of flowers as a thanks for sometimes having her daughter Caitlin (Great granddaughter) at short notice over the school holiday's. What a lovely thought.
Been busy today making Apple Chutney, which is in the slow cooker at this moment and should be ready to put in jars about 11.30 tonight, good job it's Person of Interest on the TV till late I like that. Also made apple sauce which is cooling in freezer bags ready to go in freezer, and I have absolutely loads of apples to deal with yet. I recon tomorrow will be pie making and more apple sauce.
Yesterday evening I was making Rhubarb and Ginger Jam with a little bit of an extra Ginger kick. Also freezing French Beans. The problem with August and September there is so much garden produce and wild fruit to deal with, it'll soon be Blackberry Jam and Elderberry syrup time. Tried Elderberry Jam last year but wasn't keen it was too thick and sticky I think it should have been with something else maybe Apple. It hasn't gone to waste though just spooned it into a cup added hot water and a squirt of lemon juice and hey presto a nice drink, the kids love it.
