Abott Park Farm - Sunday
Woke to rain, cheered by bacon butties.
Rain went away and we headed to Bowness-on-Windamere and "The World of Beatrix Potter" This place took me by surprise. We planned the visit initially because the chidlers really enjoy Peter Rabbit on CBeebies and Miss B has been learning a bit about Beatrix Potter at school last term. I enjoyed it just as much as them however, not realising the impact Beatrix and her stories must have had on my childhood. I obviously know that our plates and bowls etc. are still on display in my Mums kitchen and the stories were read to us regularly, but never put it high on my list of memories. It was really brilliant seeing all the displays and reliving the stories in my head. Learning more about Beatrix herself and, dare I admit, getting a little emotional meeting Mrs Tiggywinkle 'in the flesh' doing her laundry as Lucy walked out of the door!
Back to the camp site to soak up the now glorious sunshine and wait for the arrival of Nic; an old college friend who still lives in Carlisle and came down to camp with us for a night. Great to see her, and the kids think she rocks! Here she is at our pitch, not a bad spot eh?!
Star gazing too. Pretty good day.
