Today's Special

Flip Side

That's what today's weather has been -- the flip side of yesterday's lovely sunshine. It's rained, in varying degrees from drizzle to downpour, all day. There is some speculation that this is due to the drip irrigation system that Phil installed in the front garden, where this pretty little dogwood tree is found.

I took very few photos at the farmers' market today, other than a series of today's Chef in the Market presentation and a couple of vendors, including this one at the Samish Bay Cheese stall. Her smile was like sunshine!

It's going to be a shock to our systems when we arrive in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Thursday afternoon, prior to the weekend Colorado Brewers' Festival. The temperatures for the next few days there will be in the mid-90s F. (35 C). A "cold front" is forecast for Wednesday (that's what the weather report said), which will cause the temperatures to drop ten degrees (about 29 C).

There is a huge wildfire, started by lightning, raging just 15 miles from Fort Collins, which will also make things interesting. The week-old High Park Fire has burned 54,000 acres and destroyed more than 180 homes, making it the most devastating wildfire in Colorado history. It is now 20 percent contained.

No jokes about hot times in the old town tonight, please!
