A sad day for Scotland !

Dry again after yesterday's rain.Spent the morning shifting cattle about, moving gates about and loading some bruised barley I'd sold to a neighbouring farmer.
Nipped to the bank at lunch time. A notice announcing that the branch will be closing down in November. However, there will be a mobile bank available -for an hour ,twice a week! A token gesture me thinks!
Spent the afternoon tagging calves then thought I would nip down the road and check the straw,as been quite a warm breeze most of the day.
Was half way there when it came on rain,so a wasted journey.
Heard on the radio that after 130 years,Barrs, the makers of Scotland's other national drink,IrnBru (its made from girders don't you know) are going to be stopping their returnable glass bottle. Now this is a disaster for a certain tight farmer, because when ever he runs short of pocket money he has a gather up of all his empties and cashes them in at 30p a time. He has even been known to make a profit,as some old ones were only  worth 20p,but cashed them in at 30p ! And at only £1 less 30p for 750 ml, a bottle is far cheaper than a 330ml can for 49p !
