Run before the rain!

I was out picking runner beans just before the rain started to fall this morning.   Despite the deer having eaten two chunks out of my bean wigwam, we have eaten the runners with three meals and there are many more to come as the plants recover - as long as they stay on the plants!

A time to pause and think about other jobs while the wet conditions put a stop to the harvest for the foreseeable future.  We had to get in some more cattle, the younger ones this time, as there really is nothing for them to eat in the fields.  N also tried to hurry along the firm who is buying our oilseed rape under contract to come and collect what is left as we need the space urgently to store our grain.
