Progress is underway in Bulgaria.
After lots of years using useless local labour and getting nowhere as a result we have finally instructed professional builders to come in and start the first phase on the renovation of mine and Grandpa's little ramshackle house in the Bulgarian countryside.
Purchased for 99p off of eBay (Bargain!) towards the end of 2007, in the state of total dereliction and facing a possible collapse of the roof (see extra photo!) the house has caused us a lot of hell and frustration over the last few years. Unable to speak Bulgarian we have been useless at communicating with our neighbours, shopkeepers and builders etc.
It is finally time to learn Bulgarian, finish the house and put a block on accessing eBay on every computer that I have access to hereafter. Grandpa suggested NetNanny! :-D
We are flying out to see the house (WhizzAir from Luton Airport) on Sunday morning and we will hopefully be happy with the work that has been carried out.
Should all be good and everybody is happy then further work will more than likely be commissioned for stage two towards the end of summer next year.
Oh, the joys of owning a home abroad, aye! :-)
