A walk in the park
The Third Wednesday girls were out today, and we did a local walk which was very pleasant. We took a bus down to Cathcart and walked through Cathcart Cemetery (?) and on to Holmwood House, a National Trust property, supposedly the finest domestic building built by the architect 'Greek' Thompson.
We had tea/coffee and scones there, and then proceeded to Linn Park and did a six mile walk through the park on some pathways I had never been on before. We came to a monument which is where Mary, Queen of Scots viewed the Battle of Langside in 1558, which her side lost, btw. We saw a beautiful waterfall, which I have blipped, and really enjoyed the walk. Stopped on a lovely wild flower meadow to have a bite of lunch before heading back down to the main Cathcart Road and the bus home.
We had sunshine all day, but as we headed home on the bus the rain came on...... what good timing we have!!!!
