Stone Painting

Today's Blip is a stone, from our local beach, that has been painted and varnished.
The scene is of the Costa Blanca, with the recognisable Altea church, and its blue dome, that dominate the skyline of the Altea-Albir Bay.

It is amazing how a simple beach stone can be decorated so beautifully, by a skilled artist .....the simplest materials can be the basis for creative craft. The artist was a Dutch neighbour, Ad Bakker, who gave me the stone, as a gift, some 20 years ago.
Because it's unique and personal, it's never put away, but is alway on display, somewhere in the house. It's also used as a paperweight, when I'm on the terrace, and the wind is blowing.

Every so often, I think, I'll try my hand at stone painting.....but so far it hasn't happened!
