Easy
Another very hot day forecast again over the 35°C. A lazy day at home planned, chilling and grabbing the sun lotion. Farmer Franz popped by with a trailer of loose semi-dried grass he had mowed on a field edge including lots of nettles which when dried the horses do like. Later turned out that there were lots of thistles and the nettles were somewhat old and the horses were somewhat less enthusiastic over there organic herb feed.
Late lunch BBQ, a few more Pimms and then in the evening the long-promised dark clouds appeared to announce the end of high summer for this year. And then the storm started just as J&L had to leave.
We did a dash to Munich airport a 130 km dash on a Friday evening and praying no Friday evening traffic jams. The heavy rain and storm made the conditions "interesting", one lightning strike felt as though it was within touching distance. Poor J&L, they arrived at the airport, faces and knuckles the colour of milk - I suspect he will insist on driving next time!
I had planned to go in and have a quick drink with them at the airport brewery but there really wasn't much time so we said our goodbyes at the car and I headed home having to take a big detour to avoid jams. Got home to find the grandchildren in bed and the rest trying to stay warm with cups of coffee and tea in the sitting room.
Shortly after arriving a message and the above photo arrived. Their flight had been delayed by about two hours, no doubt due to the storms. So they were taking the opportunity to get some colour back in their faces and get the knuckles moving again. The drive must have really taken it out of them - L only drank white wine while with us and J only wheat beer.
Due to the relaxing nature of the day, I hadn't taken any photos today so thanks J for the rescue Blip
