Film,theatre and radio, actor Charles Hawtrey lived here at 117 Middle St in Deal, Kent. Appeared in the first Carry On film,Sergeant, in 1958 and his last one was in 1972 with Carry On Abroad. Very excentric, loved the booze. Before a died he was banned from every pub in Deal, at times got violent. Whilst in bed at his home with a young man, the house caught fire. They were both rescued in their underpants. He liked to collect brass bedsteads.
