300 per day

This neighbour we're so fond of and who spends a lot of time at our house is set to join the at least 300 people a day leaving this region and heading for Europe. (And that's just the official figure.) They say they have no hope or future here.

I feel so sad for this country. It feels as though everyone is talking about leaving. Just today I heard of 4 people who have left, paying smugglers $7000+ each to get to Europe, 'the land flowing with milk and honey'. We're always being asked for help to get visas and we're always trying to dispel the myths about the West.
