Round nasturtiums the cabbage white's bright
Pieris brassicae - or the Large White!
But what's in a name?
They all mean the same.
Spots or no spots - each one's a delight*.

*Unless or until they lay their eggs on your cabbages or nasturtiums, to hatch into little green caterpillars who will rapidly eat their way through every last leaf!

Those with two spots on the forewing are female; those with none, male. It's taken me all summer to capture one, they're so very flighty and fluttery. 

This female kept returning to the nasturtiums where another sat with its wings folded. Maybe that one was a male? It took itself off too fast for me to focus.
