Dartmoor
We continued our road trip this morning and headed to Dartmoor in search of the ponies. We stopped off at Lydford on the way as we were going to go to Lydford Gorge, but it was a 2 hour walk, so we decided to save it for another time.
Lydia (JazzyB) had given us good directions to the 'pony road' near a little village called Mary Tavy, and we found it quite easily. We parked up to take in the view and I spotted some Longhorn Cattle, so I set off in pursuit to get some photos, but the closer I got, the further to cattle moved on. I continued to follow them though and I'm glad I did as I came upon a group of horses grazing. They were quite a way back from the road and we'd never have seen them otherwise.
In typical 'Karen' fashion, I got quite close, and Alan stood guard as he was a bit worried about the cattle as one of the calves had got separated from the herd, but they didn't seem to be too bothered and just watched me. We then went back to the car, and had a picnic enjoying the view before heading on to Barrator Reservoir and then to our hotel in Plymouth.
Our hotel is right on Plymouth Hoe and is in a great spot. We found a really good Indian Restaurant where we had dinner, and then walked to the Barbican and the waterfront, which was lovely. There's also a Citadel and whilst it was too late to go up there, we walked round the edge of it back towards the Hoe with the lighthouse and the lido. It's the first time we've been to Plymouth and are quite impressed with it.
I tried to add some extra pics, but for some reason it wouldn't load them, so I'll try again later.
