Gloves
D and I spent a pleasant day wandering about Oxford, firstly in the Ashmolean museum which has been greatly re-furbished since I was last there and is looking great. The gloves appear to be knitted in an incredibly fine yarn - apparently they were worn by Warren Hastings when he was Governer-General of Bengal. Then we had an excellent pub lunch at the Lamb and Flag, followed by a stroll up to St Sepulchre's to visit great-grandfather William's grave.
In the evening we went round to Mansfield college for D & L's party - wow, what a splendid do they put on. Music, wine (apparently unlimited), food (two pigs were roasted) and a host of colleagues old and new. Being wimps (and very tired) we left before the end - they were still dancing in the chapel!
