House for Sale
After 10 days of worrying about the 'what ifs' regarding the ability of the car to make it to the ferry terminal in Kirkwall, far less on to the boat, she went like a lady who knew she was terminally ill but was determined to go to her fate with dignity, giving no problems.
With her safely parked in the car park, we cycled back to Kirkwall, only to forsake the town for a bus journey to our (or maybe read that as 'my') beloved Stromness.
His Lordship was wooed by the thought of apple pie at Julia's, but was like a wee boy denied his sweetie when he discovered there was none today.
Back in Kirkwall, I blipped this old house on the Main Street. It has been for sale as long as I can remember and there can be little doubt why.
Our bonus days in Orkney have seen some of the best weather of the summer, and today we could have been in the Costa Del Sol as we sat in the museum gardens in Kirkwall.
We have a meal booked in the town tonight and then it's a cycle back to the car and a wait to board the ferry at 11pm.
Tomorrow brings a different set of 'what ifs'. What an adventure we are having.
We have just had to purchase a box of maximum strength Ibuprofen to help us enjoy it!
