Rune Stones
Sweden has an extensive collection of Viking rune stones scattered around, at least in the areas were visiting. You'd find them alongside the roads, in fields and churchyards. At first glance you'd immediately think, "a-ha, remnants of our pagan past.", but in fact they're mostly from around the eleventh century and often Christian in nature, albeit runic in choice of font. For the most part they are akin to gravestones; memorials to lost kin and ancestors. I've added a couple in the extras, taken earlier in the week.
