A Fresh Start
I woke early to see the mist moving along the valley - I'm not sure if it's the tidal river pulling it out to sea or something else - but it sure is a beautiful sight! I grabbed my camera from downstairs as my sister got ready to leave, As I watched it swirl over and through the viaduct, and float up the hillside, I noticed a large flock of birds emerging from the trees and the mist, and fly over the fields, breaking into smaller groups, circling round then heading down the valley and over the viaduct. By this point sister was ready to load her car and soon I was waving her off - it's been a good week.
I should have then hoovered and washed the kitchen floor, feeling cold instead I wrapped myself in a soft blanket and curled up on the kitchen sofa and fell asleep for a couple of hours! Then I hoovered, but the washing I decided to leave as a treat for another day!
On returning Portly after our walk Vegan Jo drove past, so she came in for a natter and a few George Clooneys. Her daughters have reached that hormonal stage where it's best to say nothing unless they speak to you - initiating communication will only cause trouble and attitude and that needs no encouragement to manifest itself! Thank heavens all I have to contend with is broody chickens!
Shortly after she left Woodpeckers and her partner CleanSteve arrived. Such a pleasant couple of hours in their company - found out about their blip names, interesting story about his and no it's not because he is an OCD clean freak! Also discovered she has 2 other brothers and 2 more sisters as well as TMLHereAndThere! All too soon they had to continue their way home after their Cornish holiday, with quite a few school resources ( yippee! More destuffocation!) and a Queen of the Night plant - which CleanSteve was delighted about as he is the plantsman! I was delighted he liked my backyard and all my flowers! Helena gave me the sweetest knitted sheep with a pink body warmer - a lovely reminder of a short but very sweet blipmeet!
I came over cold and tired again, so back to bed this time for a couple of hours snooze and then up to the girls on the allotment. Noticed peas to pick and the fact the foliage of my potatoes had disappeared! Could be blight - must dig them up - one of my favourite allotment jobs - it's like digging for gold!
Realised yesterday that this is the first summer where I have been totally free from thoughts of school, from angsting about the planning to be done, paperwork to do - last summer I was still under contract and could not rest easy until I knew I was totally free from the place, I still anticipated the head from hell instigating some spurious accusation and a letter dropping on my doormat. Yes thats how bad it was and paranoid I was, but the paranoia was justified given her personality and actions with other staff. However, that is the past, and I am relishing my present freedom. I guess going through my school resources also stirred up old memories - recounting to Woodpeckers what I used various things for. I sort of feel my knowledge, not least my resources, are sitting idle, being wasted. but I really can't see myself going back to it in any form, where would I find the time in any case!!! The sooner I get rid of the lot the better, let them give pleasure to others and let myself find pleasure in other things - there are after all, so many interesting things to do!
