Yorkshire #2

A beaut of a day here in Yorkshire: stunning blue skies and lovely bright sunshine. We're trying to make the most of it while it lasts.

Today was spent mostly in Whitby, a fishing town that I have only ever visited before as a child / teenager (I only know because I can remember the photos of my and my brother in matching shell suits). We ate scones, walked up the 199 steps to the Abbey, played on the beach, took photographs and generally had a lovely time. I tried to take some landscapes but ended up with a human in my favourite picture of the day. I'll get there.

From there we headed to the lovelier (in my opinion) village of Robin Hood's Bay where we stopped for an early supper of fish and chips and a good local pint. The Bay is the finish point for the Coast to Coast walk and cycle routes so we watched tired and victorious finishers stumble in while we munched on our fried food.

The result of such a full and fun day is two boys sleeping soundly upstairs. Marvellous.
