Arnold the injured loggerhead turtle ...
Lucy was trying to work out a way to keep him.... We visited a super place today .. The turtle rescue centre on the beach at Iztuzu .We caught the bus from Dalyan town and paid the minute amount of £1.50 each ... The town folk run a cooperative with their buses and it's brilliant ...
Beach is lovely but VERY popular with the locals which is great,very friendly cheerful people .. Then we we went to see the rescue centre,it's only tiny but the passion for the turtles is immense ... The Turkish people are very proud of these creatures and there is a preservation order on this beach .... You must leave by 8pm as the turtles like it to themselves ...
The whole area we are in is now a conservation area also,which is fantastic .
We caught the little boat back from the other end of the beach and that takes you up the river Delta back into Dalyan town... Which cost the huge sum of £4...
If you are wondering why Arnold wears a towel it is because he had injuries preventing him from diving at the moment and if their shell dries it will kill them so they keep wet towels on him ... He also has 4 fish hooks stuck inside him but they are hoping the bile in his gut will expel them soon ... The vets know what they are taking about but I looked alarmed,the chap tried to reassure me it was better than surgery .Arnold is between 65/75 years old ... Isn't he beautiful x
