Big when I was little

Two public artworks (one in extras), one big, one small, both brilliant additions to the City of London's annual Scultpure Trail.

It was Grace's suggestion that we follow the 6km trail today and find the fifteen or so sculptures that are dotted around the City. I'm so glad we did. The City is full of surprises, amazing architecture, incredible views, hidden courtyards and churches, history and humour. I always find something I've never seen before.

Today it was the church of St Magnus the Martyr in the Ward of London Bridge Within and Bridge Without which, when we penetrated the miasma of incense, contained a fantastic 4m long wooden carving of the original London Bridge complete with houses and shops, and an old wooden fire engine of the type that would have been so utterly unsuccessful in putting out The Great Fire. Two mins walk from Monument, yet totally hidden. Absolutely worth a visit.

Home for roast chicken and the return of the prodigal son. Tom's been weekending in the Witterings with Harry.
