Ijen

We woke at 11:30 pm on the 8th.  Drove the 45 mins to the bottom of the Mt Ijen.  We then started climbing the mountain , which was extremely hard work as it was steep and very dark.  I slipped over and cut my arm.  We arrived at the top of the crater before being handed masks to protect us from the sulphur fumes.  We followed one of the miners down a very dodgy path in to the crater.  Here we saw the miners digging in the sulphur then carrying the 80 kg the distance we had just walked.  At times there were blasts of sulphur smoke that made your insides feel like they were burning.   We walked back to the top of the crater and watched the sunrise over the sulphur lake.  Then got back in the van had a shower/ breakfast and made our way to Bali.  After many hours driving we eventually arrived in Ubud Bali.
