Home Grown

Mr T got up very early this morning and headed off to the Gliding Club for more flying as the weather was supposed to be good today?    I stayed at home and spent time with my lovely Bee-keeper friend N.  She had prepared a wonderful lunch, most of the ingredients from her magnificent garden and we chatted away  for ages. After lunch we took the dogs for a walk, through the orchard, where the bee hives are and then round the lake where the RSPCA rescue ducks came to greet us, in the hope of food (disappointed).  Whilst on our walk we stepped on the remnants of a wasp nest. …  My friend has not had a lot of luck with her Bees this year.  Two hives have been overtaken by wasps and she had previously burnt out the nest.  There were a few wasps left and they seemed to recognise the pheromones of my friend and went into attack mode – she got stung a few times and we both had to run for it.

I’m learning so much about Bee and wasp behaviour.  My Blip is of some of the goodies I have come home with.
