Tree cover
A friend said " why don't you do a blip of The Dell?" So this is it!
The Dell is on the edge of our property and is a deep quarry, a very large overgrown medieval marl pit. It is filled with trees, a mixture of mainly beech, ash and chestnut. There is open ground way down at the bottom but invisible to us in the summer when there are leaves on the trees. Until this year there has been a family of foxes there, but this spring the vixen was killed on the main road and now we just have a handsome dog fox. I hope he finds a mate for next year. As well as foxes we have grey squirrels and a great variety of birds. Coco will tell us too of all the mice and voles down there.
The Dell belongs to our neighbours and they are very protective of it, keeping it reserved for its wildlife.
