A view from Jeanneb

Scillonian 111

Here we are! We arrived about 3.15 and this is the view of the harbour and quay from our room in the Atlantic Hotel, Hugh Town on St Mary's, Scilly.

We have ventured down to the hotel terrace, seen in the foreground and I have had afternoon tea and Chris a beer.

The weather is warm and quite sunny and with the Scillonian 111 moored here in the harbour all looks quite benign.

Not so! The most horrendous crossing I have ever experienced with waves coming right over the bows. We weren't ill and I managed to sleep (quite uncomfortably) most of the way, but there were two parties of school children on board. One primary and one secondary! I didn't venture out to see the mayhem but understand it was pretty bad. At one point the tannoy requested a member of staff from the secondary school to go to the pursar's office! If you are considering accompanying such a trip - DON'T.

Well I have just watched it set off back again and don't envy them one bit.

Chris is having a sleep to recover and I think I might do the same!
