Flora the baker

I don't know why Bake Off is so spectacularly popular - but it is, even to me who has never baked anything in his life.  Flora (one of two Scots finalists) got into a bit of a storm by mentioning her Aga at home.    It seemed to offend the sensibilities of the socially sensitive who didn't seem to find their prejudices dented by the fact that Flora had rescued the Aga from a tip and scrubbed it back to respectability.

Our society does seem to have sharper tongues these days.   Mean spirited.
