Pedestrianised Brussels

We took our annual summer trip into Brussels today. We'd heard about the ambitious plans to make Brussels car free and we were quite surprised by how much has become pedestrianised. The claim is that the capital will become the largest car-free zone in Europe after Venice. I dare say there will be a lot of upheaval for those who live and work in the area but for us it was lovely so I hope it works out.
Already there were funky benches along the road, people sitting playing chess, table tennis tables and, I think, pétanque pitches.
