Stepping out......

.......in the port town of Lyttelton.

This shot taken from the new Albion Square, which was the former sight of the Albion Hotel before the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.

It is a community space which features a stage, terraces and includes an interactive children's playground. The square has been planted out with edible fruit trees and herb gardens.

The carved entrance Ohinehouroko, features a fish hook and anchor, depicting the coming together of two cultures.

My extra shots show a little of the port of Lyttelton and the Sign of the Kiwi which was built in 1916 as a staging post and opened as a tearoom and rest house, also known as the Toll House. It has a Category I heritage classification by the NZ Historic Places Trust and was a popular destination for tourists and locals before the earthquakes.

A great day to be out and about but terribly windy and bitter at the Sign of the Kiwi which is situated at the top of Dyers Pass road between Christchurch and Governors Bay.
