11 victories in a row!
My friend Gord and I went to a baseball game today. Not since 1993 have the Toronto Blue Jays owned first place in their division (American League East) which is when they last won the World Series (and were in the playoffs). They achieved that milestone last night - after beating the Oakland Athletics (as they did again this afternoon 4-2) - and the New York Yankees before them, and the Minnesota Twins before them for 11 winning games in a row and three consecutive sweeps of the opposition. All this stems from a series of major trades by general manager Alex Anthopoulos. This team is suddenly a very dangerous team and a contender for the playoffs and to go deep. We'll see but it sure is fun to have exciting baseball in town again. Okay Blue Jays!
At the top is mascot Ace using a broom in front of the A's dugout to rub in the sweep the Jays took from them. Ouch.
