The Curious Schoolgirl

I was official photographer at a new citizen event at Leicestershire County Council offices this evening.

Richard Everard, a deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire and chairman of Leicester based Everard brewing company, presided in the dress uniform of The Blues and Royals. Great chap.

After the ceremony when Mr/Dr Everard posed with all the new British citizens, a young schoolgirl asked him what he did with his sword when he took it out of the scabbard. He demonstrated, making the point that every time he withdraws the sword, he kisses it, an act of blessing given that it is a lethal weapon.

We all learnt something thanks to him.
