Cromer Pier

The start of our holiday has been eventful. Before leaving Greenock we had a puncture which had to be repaired. We then had  a drive of seven and a half hours to Cromer in Norfolk.

After getting checked in we walked the coastal route into Cromer. The light this evening was really strange and I managed to get this shot of Cromer Pier before we went for dinner.

The attractive seafront is largely due to the inspired work of a London engineering firm, Douglass and Arnott. They designed the majority of the late Victorian sea walls and the wide Promenade, which is as pleasant to walk on today as it was when first built. The crowning glory of the seafront is the Pier, built between 1899-1901. It has a pavilion theatre of 1905, which is home to the last traditional end of the pier show in Britain.

I have been wanting to eat at No1 Cromer, which is the latest restaurant from renowned chef, Galton Blackiston. We were not disappointed.
