Impromptu kayaking

Gorgeous day. A friend called to ask if I fancied kayaking over to Hunda with a picnic. I decided as the forecast for Friday is terrible that I can work when the sun don't shine and headed out to enjoy one of the nicest days we've had this year.

Had a fantastic time. Two of us walked over the fifth Churchill barrier to Hunda whilst myself and two others took the kayaks and paddled round to the beach where we met up for the picnic. We then kayaked around the island, this time with a labrador in the kayak as well. The Labrador came and went as we paddled. Eventually deciding that he'd had enough of boats for the day and stuck with those walking the cliffs.

The sea was so clear, paddling over forests of tangles and being able to see sea urchins , fish and big purple jellyfish floating below us was wonderful. Fulmers and bonxies skimmed over our heads whilst the seals followed us around the island making sure we behaved ourselves in their neighbourhood.

A fantastic day all round.
