Butterfly comeback

There seems to be an inverse relationship between the number of butterflies in the garden and the number of sparrows.  As the sparrows have declined from their huge June numbers, the butterflies have been making a comeback.  I guess the hungry birds eat the caterpillars.  The new barn doors have now got their first coat of stain/varnish and are looking pretty good.  In the evening, there were lots of cries "Oh look there's another one" and "Wow, did you see that one" as we sat in the garden under a clear sky and watched the shooting stars, or more correctly, the Perseid meteor shower.
