Dry Stane Dyke

Another bonnie day here in Stromness ( see how I'm adopting the parlance) with little wind, and a temperature which brooks no need of a jacket. The clouds are high in the sky and with the sun breaking through now and then it turns almost tropical.

We strolled along to the north end of the town, past the Ness to Warebeth beach and the little graveyard set up above the shore line with a fine view over the water to the Hoy Hills, brooding in the background, for its residents.

The stone dykes at this end of the town with their coating of lichen look as though they have been painted with white paint.

We are missing the car at times when we don't feel like cycling, but we have a run planned for tomorrow when hopefully the weather will be kind.
The buses run regularly between Stromness and Kirkwall but are not so handy when trying for a return journey further afield.

Later this afternoon I'm hoping to meet up with Northern in good old Julia's café.
